The Pan Am Games
Canary District will catch the eyes of the world as it becomes a temporary home for athletes taking part in the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games, the largest sporting event Toronto has ever hosted. When the Games are done, Canary District will transition into modern, livable condominiums and continue to be a celebration of life, excellence, family and community.
The Pan/Parapan American Games, which began in Buenos Aires in 1951, are held every four years and bring together athletes from North, Central and Latin America and the Caribbean to compete in a wide variety of disciplines.
The last Games were held in Guadalajara Mexico in October of 2011. The Pan/Parapan American Games will come to Toronto in 2015. More than 10,000 athletes from 41 countries, coaches and delegates will compete in 51 sports at more than 40 venues spread across the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region.
The Games showcase high performance splendour, excitement and sportsmanship, flavoured by the spirit of the Americas.
